Comic-Con, Superheroes and Minions Rule the 12 Coolest New Posters of the Week

Comic-Con posters are rolling out this week as studios get prepped for next week's big shindig down in San Diego. Those and other posters are included in this week's poster wrap up. Check them out below.

Let's jump right into the Comic-Con posters. First up is the Comic-Con poster for 300: Rise of an Empire. The film will be a part of Warner Bros.' massive panel on Saturday morning in Hall H.

Seventh Son debuted a fantastic new trailer earlier this week and we're likely to see that and these two new posters in Hall H on Saturday. Game of Thrones fans will recognize Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) below and A Royal Affair star Alicia Vikander shines amid a purple haze.

Speaking of Comic-Con, Marvel will of course be in attendance. One of the films it will be touting will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Here's the teaser poster which arrived online earlier this week. The poster also serves as a nice Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pun.

Staying on the superhero theme, here's the new poster for Kick-Ass 2. The film will be a part of Universal's Friday Hall H presentation, which we presume will be without Jim Carrey.

He may be canceling the apocalypse this weekend in Pacific Rim, but later this year (and in January 2014 in the U.K.) Idris Elba portrays the former South African president and civil rights icon Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Bond Girl Naomie Harris plays his wife Winnie. The film gets an awards-season push with a November 29 domestic release. Watch the teaser trailer, which arrived online this morning.

On a more B-movie note, two posters for Billy Club arrived online today combining the horror-movie genre with the great American past time of baseball. The film will get a limited release later this year.

Another indie flick worth keeping a eye out for is the latest from Drafthouse Films. A new trailer arrived online today for I Declare War and the film has already stirred up some buzz in the film festival circuit.

Switching to a different kind of kids movie (namely one where they aren't shooting each other with assault rifles), here's the French teaser poster for Disney's Frozen. We'll be hearing a lot more about the movie leading up to D23 Expo in early August.

Let's close with the defending box office champion Despicable Me 2. Here's the latest Japanese poster which is littered with Minions and a waaay longer title - Villainous Gru's Minions Crisis... Yeah, I like Despicable Me 2 better.
