Christian Bale Being Recruited by Darren Aronofsky For Noah’s Ark Epic

We reported last week that Darren Aronofsky had moved on from The Wolverine and was planning on a re-telling of Noah’s Ark. With a $130 million price tag, the director is searching for investors. Fox-owned New Regency is looking for other studios to help shoulder the cost and one of the quickest way to get people on board is to attach an A-list actor to your cast. It’s a bonus if the actor is coming off winning an Academy Award and is playing the lead in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight swan song.

Aronofsky is currently trying to recruit Christian Bale to play the lead in the epic Biblical story. Bale is well-known for inhabiting his characters, sometimes to the extreme as seen in The Machinist, Rescue Dawn and most recently, The Fighter. Bale isn’t the most bankable star at the box office, but he’s pretty close. Most of his films, outside of the Batman franchise, have come close or exceeded the $100 million mark.
Jon Voigt last portrayed the animal-friendly character in a 1999 TV movie. There was also the 2007 spoof starring Steve Carrell and Morgan Freeman, Evan Almighty, the sequel to Jim Carrey’s Bruce Almighty.
While it’s still very early we’d like to know what you think of Bale playing Noah.
