Chris Pine as the Rebooted 'Robocop'?

The latest round of Robocop reboot rumors finds Chris Pine as the front runner to play the role made famous by Peter Weller. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and even Johnny Depp were once considered for the role but it seems MGM is now looking for a younger leading man and Pine is leading the pack, though no official offer has been made just yet.

Pine is set to star in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel next year and also has a couple other big budget movies already on his schedule. A Robocop movie might not work into his schedule. Jose Padilha (Elite Squad 2) is set to direct the movie with a 2013 target date.
If Pine can’t work the reboot into his schedule or decides to pass once an offer is made, who do you think could play Detroit’s super cyborg cop?
