Check Out the Full ‘Super 8’ Trailer Online Now

After months and months of secrecy surrounding J.J. Abrams’ latest film Super 8, we finally have a longer trailer to devour … and the best thing about it is that the thing does a fantastic job of teasing without revealing.

In my expert trailer opinion (yeah I think I watch enough of these every week to have an expert opinion, so what of it???), I think this Super 8 trailer is the most successful trailer of 2011, and here’s why: J.J. Abrams manages to give us a two-plus-minute trailer without revealing anything substantial. We know there’s something terrorizing this town, stealing dogs and kidnapping (or killing) people, but we don’t know its agenda.

Is this a creature just trying to stay alive? Is this a creature hell-bent on destroying us? How big is it? What are its powers? Where did it come from? None of those questions are answered, and yet we see enough of the film to certainly whet our appetites for more. It’s early, and we’re still a long way away from the film’s June 10th release, but here’s hoping Paramount and Abrams keep this creature a secret until then. Can they do it? We’ll see. Check out the official synopsis and trailer below, and tell us what you think.

"In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth -- something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined."
