Casting: Julianne Moore in 'Carrie' Remake, Vince Vaughn in 'Rockford Files' and Emily Blunt to Star Opposite Tom Cruise

Julianne Moore in Talks for Carrie Remake

Back when Chloe Moretz was cast in the title role of Kimberly Pierce's remake of the Stephen King classic Carrie, there was also word that a couple of actresses, Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore, were up for the role of deranged mom Margaret White.

Now there's word that things have progressed with Moore to the point that she is currently in serious talks to join the cast. Regardless of who fills the role, that actress will have some big shoes to fill. Piper Laurie earned an Oscar nomination for the Brian De Palma-directed original, and became one of the creepiest and evil villains in horror movie history.

Do you think Julianne Moore fits the bill as Carrie's knife-wielding mom?

Vince Vaughn to Star in The Rockford Files

We've seen plenty of '70s and '80s television series get a feature film adaptation over the past few years, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Universal is developing a feature adaptation of '70s detective series The Rockford Files. What is a bit of a surprise is who is starring in the title role of Rockford.

Deadline reports that the film is being developed as a starring vehicle for Vince Vaughn, who will also produce the film through their Universal-based production company Wild West Picture Show.

The original television series ran on NBC from 1974-80 and starred James Garner as the down-and-out private eye Jim Rockford.

Are you surprised by this casting announcement and do you think Vaughn can pull off the role?

Emily Blunt Nabs Role in We Mortals Are

Keeping her busy work schedule moving forward, Emily Blunt is set to star as another soldier alongside Tom Cruise in We Mortals Are, aka All You Need Is Kill,  a film adaptation of the Japanese novel written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.

The story is a Groundhog Day-type tale of a soldier (Cruise) fighting in a war with aliens who finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day after being killed. Through his training and experiences being relived every day, he becomes a better and more skilled soldier.

The action-packed scifi flick is set to hit theaters in 2013.
