Cam Gigandet Will Play Another Vampire in 'Priest'

Hot off his back-to-back Best Fight wins at the MTV Movie Awards in 2008 and 2009, Twilight star Cam Gigandet is looking to make it a trilogy of awards after signing on to co-star in the horror western Priest, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the TokyoPop comic book, Priest follows a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) who ditches the church in order to hunt down the murderous pack of vampires who kidnapped his niece.

Gigandet won't be playing a villainous vamp this time around; instead, THR says he'll take on the role of a young sheriff who's part vampire. Said sheriff will partner up with our off-the-wall priest to save his niece, who's also the sheriff's lover. Unlike Twilight, this looks to be a much darker vampire tale – one that could turn pretty bloody and nasty and kinda awesome.

What do you think? Did Gigandet play a believable vampire in Twilight? Do you think he's right for this role?
