‘Breaking Dawn’ Crisis: Which Stars Could Quit the Final Film

We’ve been wondering for awhile now whether or not The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn would be broken up into two films, and now we finally may have our answer … though it could come with some bad news. The Hollywood Reporter tells us that a major salary dispute is what’s holding up the official decision to split the final Twilight installment into two films.

'Breaking Dawn'

Remember, the original cast was never signed on to more than four films, and so Summit must renegotiate the contracts for everyone. Apparently the most important contracts – like the ones that belong to Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner – are real close to being finalized, however some of the Cullen family members are holding out for more (and, heck, who can blame them?). Primarily we’re talking about Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, both of whom have gained a considerable amount of notoriety since the Twilight series began – not to mention these are two actors who I could definitely see blowing up within the next couple of years. They know this, which is why they’re demanding more money from Summit. Why the studio won’t just cave and give it to them – especially since they’re making an absolute killing off this franchise – we do not know. Probably being K-Stew, R-Patz and T-Lautner are costing a small fortune.
THR says Summit may make a bold move and recast the characters for the fifth film, like they did with the character of Victoria between New Moon and Eclipse. I’m of the opinion that they won’t do that, especially since it would be ridiculously weird to have a two-part film that consisted of two sets of people playing the same characters. Not only would it be a stupid move to make after these folks have been together for four films, but it might confuse people and hurt the final product.
I think it’s all a negotiation game right now, but in the end Summit will get their entire cast back and we’ll see a two-part Breaking Dawn movie. What do you think? Would you be pissed if they re-casted Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene for the final film?
