Box Office: You Predict 'The Hunger Games' Opening Box Office

Since The Hunger Games is the only major wide release this week -- and since everyone seems obsessed with how much this monster franchise-starter will earn in its first couple of days -- we thought it might be fun to throw it to you folks and see if you can accurately predict how much money the film will make opening weekend.

Early numbers are already telling us that The Hunger Games has earned roughly $19.7 million in midnight screenings, making it the highest midnight opening ever for a non-sequel. Can that initial fan-inspired buzz carry over to the rest of the weekend, or will the hype die down now that the franchise's biggest fans have probably already seen it?

That's for you to decide. Some have suggested The Hunger Games could earn up to $150 million opening weekend, though I think that's a bit high.

My Prediction: I'm going to say The Hunger Games ends up with $105 million for the weekend.

Now it's your turn -- sound off in our poll below and let us know how much you think The Hunger Games will make in its opening weekend. We'll circle back next week to see how you did. And if you haven't picked up your Hunger Games tickets yet, then whaddya know -- you're in the right place for that here at Fandango
