Box Office: Who Will Win the Weekend

'Predators' and 'Despicable Me'After skipping a week due to the box office hurricane that was The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, we're back looking for your predictions as to which film you think will win the weekend box office. Sure, Eclipse is still a force to be reckoned with, but two new releases could kick the Twilight saga to the curb if they build enough momentum. Let’s take a look at this week's contenders …

What's The Scoop: Adrien Brody leads a pretty wicked ensemble cast in this sequel that takes the action to the Predators home planet where a group of earth's most dangerous humans are hunted like wild game by the iconic creatures who first stalked Arnold Schwarzenegger and his gang back in 1987.
Why It Might Win The Weekend: Unlike those Alien vs. Predator movies, I'm hearing some really great things about Predators – like how it brings the franchise back to its roots, how the cast really comes together nicely and how producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal really brought out the best (or should we say, worst) of what this creature has to offer.
What's The Scoop: Steve Carell voices a supervillain who must try to find his kinder side when he’s placed in charge of a trio of orphan girls.
Why It Might Win The Weekend: Animated films have been really kicking butt this summer, with both Shrek and Toy Story 3 coming up on top of the box office for multiple weekends in a row. Could Despicable Me continue that trend? I think maybe …
My Prediction: Truthfully, this is one of the toughest weekends to predict so far. Eclipse definitely has staying power, but did it already do the majority of its business in those first 5 days? And do those Predators still have enough fans willing to give them a chance opening weekend, or will good buzz help that film do better down the line? And what about Despicable Me? Sure, Toy Story 3 and Shrek did well, but those are established properties and kids were really looking forward to them. Can the same be said for Despicable Me? No, not really. All that being said, I think I’m going to stick with Eclipse for one more week.
What about you? Which film do you think will win the box office this weekend?
