Box Office: Who Will Win The Weekend?

Seeing as only one wide release hit theaters last weekend, we took some time off to regroup ourselves in preparation for the upcoming summer blockbuster season. Last week saw a photo finish at the box office between Date Night and Clash of the Titans, with the latter barely winning. This week, however, we have two new releases vying for that much-coveted top spot. Let's see what we've got…

'Kick-Ass' or 'Death at a Funeral'

What's the Scoop: Based on the graphic novel, this violent, foul-mouthed, hard R-rated superhero action-comedy follows a regular high school kid who one day decides to become a masked crime fighter. Too bad he doesn't know the first thing about fighting.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Little 11-year-old Chloe Moretz has been getting boatloads of attention for her scene-stealing role as the tough-as-nails Hit Girl, and just the fact that a little girl can kill that many people in one film may be exactly what attracts the masses to this wildly entertaining comic book flick.

What's the Scoop: In this remake of Frank Oz's 2007 black comedy, all hell breaks loose when a dysfunctional clan reunites to mourn the passing of a family member.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: How can you go wrong with a cast that includes Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan? The names alone should sell this sucker big time, and some pretty good advance buzz could solidify its spot at the top of the box office.

My Prediction: If Kick-Ass was rated PG-13, it would easily win the weekend – but because it's not, I'm going with Death at a Funeral, mainly due to its popular ensemble cast.

Now it's your turn to sound off – who do you think will win the weekend?
