Box Office Poll : Who Will Win The Weekend? (9/24-9/26)

Box Office Poll : Who Will Win The Weekend? (9/24-9/26)

No real big surprises last week as Ben Affleck's The Town came out on top of what many called the most entertaining weekend of 2010. This weekend finds some more subdued new releases arriving in theaters, though the return of a legendary character and a visually stunning owl action-adventure movie are nothing to sneeze at. Let's take a look …

What’s The Scoop: Michael Douglas reprises the role he won an Oscar for back in 1987, as former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko, who gets out of prison and begins to mentor his daughter's (Carey Mulligan) boyfriend (Shia LaBeouf), a whip-smart trader looking to rise up the corporate ladder.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: An all-star cast, plus Oliver Stone back behind the camera may prove too tempting for those looking to revisit the world of the popular late-'80s drama. But do people want to be reminded yet again of how horrible the economy is doing?

What's The Scoop: 300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder brings us his first film geared toward a younger set with this action-packed animated adventure based on a series of books about a group of owls sent to fight off an army of corrupt owls being created by a wicked ruler.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: Despite Snyder's love of all things violent, gritty and grueling, with Legend of the Guardians he’s actually delivered a visually stunning film that both kids and adults should be able to enjoy, especially those familiar with the books. Plus, c'mon, you know you’re itching for a badass owl flick.

What's The Scoop: Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman and Betty White star in this comedy about a girl who learns her brother is about to marry the woman who tormented her in high school. Thus, she sets out to expose the bully’s true colors before she walks down the aisle with her bro.
Why It Might Win The Weekend: Did someone say girl power?

My Prediction: The 3-D should help Legend of the Guardians propel toward that number one spot at the box office this weekend, though don’t count out those wheelers and dealers from Wall Street 2. Those guys always have something up their sleeves.

Now it's your turn – which film do you think will win the weekend?

2.       Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
