Box Office Poll: Who Will Win The Weekend

With Christmas arriving next week, December has hit its biggest weekend, with Tron: Legacy arriving in theaters alongside one for the kids (Yogi Bear) and one for the rom-com enthusiasts (How Do You Know). Which one will reign supreme? Let’s take a look …

What’s The Scoop: This sequel to the cult-ish 1982 sci-fi movie is packed with enough fantastical special effects to make you forget that it was this weekend last year that Avatar arrived in theaters. 28 years after Jeff Bridges’s Kevin Flynn gets trapped in a computer world, his son (played by Garrett Hedlund) attempts a rescue mission to bring his pop back home.
Why It Might Win The Weekend: Not only is it being billed as this year’s Avatar, but it also carries with it all the nostalgia from the previous installment. Look for this Disney flick to put up big opening numbers.

What’s The Scoop: Everyone’s favorite campground bear (who’s friendlier than your average bear, mind you) hits screens (with little BooBoo at his side) in a film that mixes CGI and live action, much in the same way the Alvin and the Chipmunks films did.
Why It Might Win The Weekend: Mainly because Alvin and the Chipmunks cleaned house in this same spot. If this is the best option for kids while they’re out of school, then look for it to collect a good chunk of change.

What’s The Scoop: Reese Witherspoon finds herself trapped in a love triangle between her baseball-playing boyfriend (Owen Wilson) and a guy from her past who’s in the middle of a crisis (Paul Rudd) in this rom-com from famed director James L. Brooks (Terms of Endearment).
Why It Might Win The Weekend: As the alternative pick for those who don’t want to see a kids’ film or an effects-heavy sci-fi flick, this is definitely the one to go with. The higher ticket prices for Tron’s 3D may keep it away from taking the box office by storm, though.

My Prediction: This really should be a no-brainer, with Tron: Legacy cruising to the top of the box office charts with futuristic ease.

Now it’s your turn – sound off below and let us know which film you think will win the weekend at the box office.
