Multi-award winning musician, fashion icon and occasional actress Beyoncé Knowles is ready to don a new hat – documentary director.
The L.A. Times reports that Knowles, along with reps at her talent agency, have been shopping around a documentary about her life and career to Hollywood studios. The project would follow the same blend of Katy Perry's recent documentary which featured a blend of behind the scenes footage as well as musical numbers.
Knowles will serve as not only the director of the project, but producer as well, giving her control on all levels of production. Twenty minutes of footage has been shown to potential distributors. No word yet on if any of them have agreed to a deal.
Last summer, MTV aired Beyoncé: Year of 4, a mini-documentary that showed her taking time off and then eventually returning to the recording studio.
Feature documentaries about musical superstars have been easy money for studios. In addition to the recent Katy Perry movie, docs about Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brother and Justin Bieber have been financial successes. Next fall brings a 3D concert doc about boy band One Direction.
Would you be interested in seeing a documentary about Beyonce's life and career? She would certainly have a lot to include in there, from releasing a top-selling album, splitting from her long-time manager (her father) and having a baby with husband Jay-Z.
