Beyonce Drops Out of Clint Eastwood's 'A Star Is Born' Remake

Though the project has been in development for a couple of years now, Clint Eastwood's proposed remake of the 1976 Barbara Streisand-Kris Kristofferson musical romance A Star Is Born has hit another snag.

Beyonce Knowles, the only confirmed talent that had agreed to headline the project has now dropped out, citing a busy schedule and a still-to-be-set start date for filming.

Beyonce was set to play the Streisand role of a promising young performer who falls in love with an older fading star. The project has had difficulty locking down a male lead to play the Kristofferson role.

According to Variety, which broke the news, Eastwood may look to cast jazz musician Esperanza Spaulding in the role, though sources emphasize that until a male lead is locked down, no discussions or offers will be out for the female lead.

Eastwood has approached a number of top male stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp and most recently, Bradley Cooper. Though there is no offer out for Cooper, he could possibly still join the project, though it won't be anytime soon. Cooper is currently filming The Hangover III and once that wraps, will move on to David O. Russell's untitled movie.

Are you disappointed B dropped out of the project and who do you think could fill in? Should Cooper sign on as the male lead or should this remake just be scrapped all together?
