Best of the Week: Guy Pearce Joins 'Iron Man 3' and New 'Moonrise Kingdom' Clips

 

Guy Pearce is in final talks to join Iron Man 3 in the role of geneticist Aldrich Killian. The plot will borrow elements from the six-issue Iron Man: Extremis graphic novels, which focuses on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology. In the books, Killian co-created the Extremis technology that Iron Man adopts after Killian sells it to terrorists. Iron Man 3 is due to hit theaters May 3, 2013.

Taylor Swift is circling the role of Joni Mitchell in an adaptation of Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us. The film examines the careers of singers Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King. Swift has not be officially offered the role, but has been linked to it for several months as other actresses have auditioned to play Simon and King.

Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom is quickly gaining steam as one of the most anticipated indie films of the summer. The film stars Edward Norton, Bruce Willis and Bill Murray and arrives in theaters over Memorial Day weekend (May 25). Check out this new clip below.

 

Sony is currently in early talks to acquire the film rights to Allen Zadoff's novel Boy Nobody with plans to develop it as a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith. Boy Nobody is the first of a planned trilogy about a brainwashed teenage assassin who starts to regain his emotions (kind of like a teenage version of Jason Bourne).

If you didn't get a chance to watch The Hunger Games in IMAX during its limited run, good news! The film is headed back to the giant IMAX screens for another one-week run. The film will run in IMAX in more than 100 North American locations beginning April 27.
