Vulture reports that the field has been narrowed down to three contenders: George Nolfi, the writer-director of The Adjustment Bureau, F. Gary Gray, director of the Mark Wahlberg version of The Italian Job and Community's Anthony and Joseph Russo.
“Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios’ president of production] is a ‘vibe guy,'” one source familiar with the talks explains about the unusual decision to include a pair of Emmy-winning comedy duo in the mix. And apparently, they hit it off with Kevin in the room.” Captain America 2 isn't due to hit theaters until 2014, but a decision on the director(s) should be made by mid-April.
