'Back to the Future,' 'Three Musketeers' and J.J. Abrams' Latest Take Center Stage At Comic-Con Preview Night

To say that this year's Comic-Con is scaled back is a bit misleading. While studios may be playing their cards a bit more carefully, there were still plenty of attendees on hand to soak in the Preview Night experience.

The big event (after the Shark Night 3D Sneak Peek was canceled) was a special Sneak Peek screening of some highly-anticipated TV pilots hitting the airwaves in 2011-12. J.J. Abrams' Alcatraz stars Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Robert Forster and Sam Neill and uses the infamous prison as its setting to unfurl the usual J.J. Abrams mysteries.
Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson and Tajari P. Henson star in yet another J.J. Abrams produced pilot, Person of Interest. In this procedural, an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes. No word if smoke monsters will appear in the series.
The DeLorean at San Diego Comic-Con.The Vampire Diaries exec producer Kevin Williamson presented footage for his latest CW show, The Secret Circle while Warner Bros. TV rounded out the screening with footage from Supernatural: The Anime Series.
There is plenty showcased on the event floor as well. Amid the sparse number of cosplayers was the DeLorean customized by Doc Brown himself. The exhibition was truly a hit and certainly brought back a wave of nostalgia. Other exhibitions that drew big crowds on the floor were the Three Musketeers booth, proving that either Comic-Con attendees love free stuff or want to see Orlando Bloom and company in 3D on October 21st.
The festivities kick off tomorrow in Hall H, with Twilight: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 screening footage and the cast doing Q&A amid the ear-piercing shrieks of Twi-hards. Ear plugs are highly recommended if you are anywhere near Hall H. Fox will also preview some of their upcoming movies as will Robert Rodriguez. There will also be a 30-minute Q&A featuring PeeWee Herman and clips will be shown from Guillermo del Toro's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Jon Favreau and del Toro will close a busy day of Hall H activity with a casual chat moderated by Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen.
