Awesome! Two More 'Lego Movie' Sequels Announced for 2018 and 2019

Everything is about to get a whole lot more awesome. That's because Warner Bros. has announced that it will release two more films in its Lego Movie franchise, on top of an already announced sequel.

The Lego Movie debuted earlier this year to the tune of $468 million at the box office, becoming one of the biggest success stories of 2014. Warner was thrilled with the early returns and instantly announced a sequel would be part of its 2017 release schedule. Now the studio promised two additional films slated to open in the Memorial Day release windows of 2018 and 2019.

Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Elizabeth Banks all provided voices for the debut feature, but there’s no word yet on whether any (or all) of them will return for the full run of sequels. We suspect Pratt’s dance card is going to be very full in the wake of Guardians of the Galaxy igniting a box office firestorm, but hopefully he can find time to fit in some voice work.

The release schedule of one film per year over a three-year stretch feels a bit ambitious given the amount of effort required to create animated features, but with potential asset sharing and working on all three sequels at once, it could be achievable. As fans of the first Lego Movie, we’re excited about getting more stories from this cinematic universe. Are you guys ready for another trip to block city?
