AMC/Regal Cinemas’ First Distributed Film Stars Jason Statham and Robert de Niro

AMC and Regal Cinemas, the two biggest movie exhibitors in the United States (as well as the two biggest competitors) teamed up a few months ago and formed their own shared distribution company called Open Road Films. The first movie the company will distribute will be the action thriller The Killer Elite, starring Jason Statham, Robert de Niro and Clive Owen.

In Elite, which has no relation to Sam Peckinpah’s 1975 Robert Duvall-James Caan movie, Statham plays a retired SAS man is forced out of retirement when old comrades start being murdered. De Niro plays Statham’s mentor who’s in need of rescue from a trio of assassins led by Owen. The Killer Elite is based on a true story and a novel called The Feather Men and hits theaters September 23rd. Will you be there to check it out?
