If you're a federal employee, times are certainly tough. AMC Theatres is looking to help you escape the government shutdown for a few hours.
Beginning today, AMC Theatres is giving federal workers free popcorn. The theater chain announced that federal employees will receive a free small popcorn at AMC concession stands simply by showing a valid government or military ID.
"The offer is good until common sense is restored in Washington D.C., or, more likely, untili the shutdown ends or we run out of free popcorn," AMC Theatres said in a statement.
"There are hundreds of thousands of federal workers whose lives are being impacted," Executive Vice President of Operations John McDonald said. "While we can't do anything to resolve gridlock in Washington D.C., we can provide a few hours of entertainment, and free popcorn, while they wait to get back to work."
So if you're looking to escape for a few hours, why not check out what's in theaters and score some free popcorn. It's certainly more than what the government is going to give you right now.
