Amanda Seyfried as Porn Star, Steve Carell Steals Laughs and Taylor Lautner Teams with Gus Van Sant

Amanda Seyfried as Porn Star

In news that is sure to raise a few eyebrows, In Time actress Amanda Seyfried is currently in talks to portray porn star Linda Lovelace in a movie based on the Eric Danville book The Complete Linda Lovelace.

This isn't to be confused with Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story, which at one point had Lindsay Lohan attached to star until Malin Akerman stepped in for the perpetually troubled star. This Lovelace movie has had a number of actresses attached ranging from Olivia Wilde to Kate Hudson.

Lovelace is the adult film star of one of the highest grossing movies of all time, 1972's Deep Throat. As a Florida schoolgirl named Linda Boreman, she met husband Chuck Traynor who transformed her into a world-famous sex star. Peter Saarsgard is currently in talks to play Traynor.

Following years of harassment, Lovelace quit the business, divorced Traynor, whom she accused of coercing her into porn and prostitution, and eventually became a vocal anti-porn spokesperson, before dying in 2002.

Lovelace is expected to go into production in January.

Steve Carell Steals Laughs

While the casting list for the magician-themed comedy Burt Wonderstone begins to fill out, Steve Carell is adding an action comedy to his list of upcoming projects.

Carell will star and produce Conviction, a film that was on the Hollywood Black List (a pecking order of hot, unproduced scripts as composed by film executive Franklin Leonard) before it was picked up by Warner Bros. two years ago. The original script featured a storyline along the lines of Heat but will be retooled into an action comedy along the lines of 48 Hrs.

The story follows a mastermind bank robber who serves five years in prison after a botched heist. He's forced by an FBI agent to entrap his protégé who is looking to pull off a multimillion-dollar job.

Carell's last action comedy, Get Smart (which was recently buzzing with sequel rumors) rang up $230 million worldwide and to date, Carell's movies have brought in over $1.6 billion domestically.

Taylor Lautner Teams with Gus Van Sant

A while back Taylor Lautner was being positioned as the next Hollywood action star being attached to action flicks like Stretch Armstrong. However, following the lackluster success of Abduction, things have changed. Granted, Lautner still has the two Breaking Dawn movies that will pad his bank account nicely, but Lautner is now moving in a different direction.

While currently in production on a fantasy drama Incarceron and with a rumored role opposite Dwayne Johnson in action flick Goliath, Lautner has teamed up with director Gus Van Sant on an indie drama based on a New Yorker article. Details as to which article have not been revealed, though given Van Sant's track record of coaxing strong performances from his lead actors, we should be grateful that Lautner opted for this movie over Stretch Armstrong.
