The 2009 San Diego Comic-Con may be over, but the remnants of its awesomeness are still being felt all around the interwebs. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland had a massive presence at the convention this year, even going so far as to set up a fake Wonderland for con-goers to tour (see video of it on Slashfilm), and now the first trailer for the movie has also been revealed.
Starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Matt Lucas, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman, this version of Alice in Wonderland picks up 10 years after Alice’s original visit. She’s now 19-years-old, and, like any teenager on the cusp of adulthood, is trying to figure out what her future holds. Thus, she travels back down that magic rabbit hole and winds up back where it all began.
The trailer itself is quite breathtaking, and the visuals look colorful, wondrous and spectacular. Hopefully there will be a strong enough story to go with all the fantastical visuals, but either way I can imagine this one being an absolute blast to watch on the big screen in 3D. You can watch the trailer right over here.
Alice in Wonderland hits theaters on March 5, 2010.
