Loved this little time capsule of a film. In typical Wes Anderson fashion, you're transported into another time in a quirky, beautifully-shot film. Anderson's perfectly symmetrical shots. gorgeous nature stills paired with subtle sarcasm make the film, which is often "slow", suck you in so you're forced to slow down for an actual storyline. There's a complete absences of bang 'em up, shoot 'em up, fast-paced scenes, and that's just fine. Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward are spot-on as awkward gangly teens in love. Standout performances by the usual suspects - Bill Murray, Francis McDormand and Bruce Willis, but by far the most hysterical character is Jason Schwartzman as a scout leader turned marriage counselor. Great, endearing movie.

I have seen and enjoyed my fair share of quirky movies. I was very excited to see this one- I love Frances McDormand and the commercials made it look light hearted, fun, and clever. I found myself constantly wondering when something-anything- of interest or amusement would happen. I must have checked my watch about 5 times. There are a handful of funny moments, but nothing I would call touching, moving, or even truly engaging about this movie. It wasn't truly bad- just slow and boring- even for someone like me who enjoys slower paced, subtle movies. Maybe I just expected too much. I would recommend waiting for the dvd/netflix.

The humor was there, and funny at times. The quirky characters were good but after a while it started getting old for me. Towards the end of the movie I was starting to lose interest and was hoping the movie would end with every minute that passed. At the end of the movie, I was thinking that I paid too much to see it. If it were a movie on TV, I would rated it much higher. But for the going rate of movie tickets, it made me feel like I was ripped off.

Slow - one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time

It was painful to watch. I don't understand why everyone is saying this is a great movie. The people who invited us apologized - all four of us were mystified why all these prominent actors chose to be in this movie.

We saw that it received great reviews so - we went! It was the MOST AWFUL movie we have ever seen!!!! A waste of our time AND our money! We could watch static on our TV and enjoy that more. I can't understand why they would waste money to make this movie.....
