I seldom feel tempted to actually walk out of a movie, but this one takes the cake. It was the most ridiculous, boring excuse for entertainment I've every agonized through (unfortunately, I had no choice but to stay since we were meeting friends afterwards.) How this gets any good reviews is beyond me. I'd been forewarned but figured how bad could it be....now I know!

Since RUSHMORE I've been less and less in love with Wes' flicks... love looking AT all of them... but from TENNENBAUMS thru AQUATIC and to DARJEELING each film offered slightly less BEYOND the look of the movie.
MOONRISE KINGDOM (which for some reason I kept calling MONSOON KINGDOM-- which kinda fit even after seeing the movie) does still have the look I love in Anderson's films... but brings some heart back to the story.
So, for my money, we're back in TENNENBAUMS country... not quite RUSHMORE, but a very good movie!! (And, as I've said, I was losing hope by degrees, so this made me very happy.)
Do see it and enjoy the craft and the story, too!

Moonrise Kingdom was a touching yet hilarious story that I is one of my top movies. If you've seen Hugo and liked it, this movie is just as good if not better

This film was a very odd little piece, that would appeal to a specific audience. It had the look and feel of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's 'Neighbors'. If you like dark comedy with a twist...welcome.

A fel good movie with a little edge. Great cinematography, good book, fine casting. Gentle spoof of organixations like the Scouts. Plot sometimes a little contrived but all in all, worth going for the acting and the feelgood story.
