Since RUSHMORE I've been less and less in love with Wes' flicks... love looking AT all of them... but from TENNENBAUMS thru AQUATIC and to DARJEELING each film offered slightly less BEYOND the look of the movie.
MOONRISE KINGDOM (which for some reason I kept calling MONSOON KINGDOM-- which kinda fit even after seeing the movie) does still have the look I love in Anderson's films... but brings some heart back to the story.
So, for my money, we're back in TENNENBAUMS country... not quite RUSHMORE, but a very good movie!! (And, as I've said, I was losing hope by degrees, so this made me very happy.)
Do see it and enjoy the craft and the story, too!

Great movie! Proves human connection is so much more powerful than cell phones and social media. Two kids, feeling out of place and alone, meet and instantly recognize something unwritten in each other and make plans to run away to be together. Their actions make people around them realize they need to look deeper at someone who seems so different from themselves and realize they are not so different after all.

A fel good movie with a little edge. Great cinematography, good book, fine casting. Gentle spoof of organixations like the Scouts. Plot sometimes a little contrived but all in all, worth going for the acting and the feelgood story.

This movie may not make a ton of money as there are no car crashes, an absence of special effects, no murder or mayhem - not even any swearing!!!
This was just a fabulous, off the wall movie.
Casting was superb! A memorable treasure!

This was a brilliant movie with an impressive cast of well known actors. I'll have to rate it as the best movie I've seen in over 10 years. The whole theatre clapped at the end. It left you feeling good and was highly entertaining for both male and females as my husband loved it too. Considering the quality of the movies that are currently out, this movie should be in all theatres. This isn't your standard movie, the filming was brilliant with radiant colors, and a quirkiness to it that makes it endearing. It's a MUST see!
