The fun writing and vivid script were brought to life by a perfectly cast group of actors, including the best group of scouts ever, a mom with a megaphone in her arsenal and a fellow lawyer in her marraige bonds, a police officer with his heart in the right place, and two young runaways that are strong and bold & truly in love.
It's funny, quirky, and even heart warming for a brief moment.
Matinee prices okay.
Uptight and disciplined film fans should probably skip it and see ICE AGE 4.

This was a completely refreshing and entertaining movie, from beginning to end. It makes you want to live on this beautiful island inhabited by quirky people. The 16mm film added to the dreamlike quality and harkens one back to 1964, to a simpler time.
I highly recommend this film to everyone longing for something different that the movie fare put out now.

We really enjoyed Moonrise Kingdom. It is definitely Wes Anderson style of directing. The story was compelling and well told. The young actor and actress were wonderful. The stars in the cast were great! My favorites were Bruce Willis as the Island Police officer and Ed Norton as the Khaki Scouts leader.
My only complaint is that the trailer gives away some of the better comedic lines. But otherwise, well worth the price of admission!

I just got back from see Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom and I do say it was plain awful. It was a waste of money and popcorn. The only reason I say that is, when you see a good movie you finish your popcorn but when it's awful you don't finish it and you end up snacking on it in your car. To say this movie had some of the greatest actors that played in great films before highly disappointed me espically Bruce Willis. This was one of his worst roles he'd ever portrayed in a movie. Bill Murray has been so much better in "Osmosis Jones" then this pathetic piece of film. It was poorly scripted, no emotion in the characters, and plainly it was a snooze fest from beginning to end. If you want to see a movie you should watch "The Wizard of Oz" instead of "Moonrise Kingdom" to save your money.

Moonrise Kingdom is the 12th original movie to come out of Hollywood this year, and director Wesley Anderson's first movie to feature controversial subjects such as a child addicted to corn-resin and a young girl who suffers from lockjaw. The movie mostly centers around the romance between the two pubescent characters but also features Bruce Williams as the harried cop at odds when he finds himself torn between parenthood and a much older lady from Fargo. Also Bill Murray maybe plays his best Anderson-role yet as the beleaguered step-dad who can't cope with his daughter's refusal to raise his children. Moonrise Kidscape is a simple but deep look at the trials and tribulations of Americans as they adapt to island life during colonial times.
