If you want an opportunity to reflect on who you are today or to just understand the dynamics of "that generation" and the cultural wave that began in California and rippled across the country, then this is the film for you. The energy, innocence, and styles are captured with penetrating cinimatography. It was a moment in musical history like no other; you just had to be there to believe it. And now you can!

This 40th Anniversary screening of D.A. Pennebaker's classic rock festival documentary was a memorable event in itself! Truly a special and heartfelt occasion to hear from many of the players from the 1967 festival looking back on it from their perspective today. Pennebaker's film stands out all the more in how it has carried the spirit of the moment over now four decades, so that seeing it in the context of first-hand reminiscences brought one right back to the moment. From all accounts, his film truly was able to capture the spirit and specialness of it all on film with bravura measuring up to the festival itself. Wonderful film! Wonderful special Anniversary screening!

Monterey Pop a Pop Classic

A truly classic concert film of an era we will never see again. Captured by 5 "home made" cameras over 3 days, with the director and cameramen flying by the "seat of the pants", this movie depicts one-of-a-kind performances by The Mamas & the Papas, The Who, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Ravi Shankar and Jimi Hendrix. The audience is a big part of the movie, and the feeling and atmosphere of the time is captured in great detail.

Having your special guests made it worthwhile. I loved the beginning interviews. The director was a bit boring. How many face lifts has he had?
