One in a series of Miles Davis-headlined concert releases, this actually combines footage from two performance sets. One was mounted, performed and filmed at the Stadthalle in Karlsruhe, Germany in November '67; it features Davis on trumpet, Herbie Hancock on piano, Wayne Shorter on tenor sax; Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. The other was mounted, performed and filmed in New York in early April of 1959. It features Davis on trumpet, John Coltrane on tenor sax, Paul Chambers on bass, Jimmy Cobb on drums and the Gil Evans Orchestra providing accompaniment.
