Hosted by soap opera star Lisa Rinna, the hour-long cable reality series Merge was dedicated to helping newly married couples cut down on the clutter in their new homes. With the help of professional designer Angelo Surmelis, the couples endeavored to combine their separate personal belongings into a single household. It goes without saying that the toughest decisions involved not what to keep, but what to throw away -- especially since the discarded items were ground into nothingness by "The Shredder," a one-ton machine built for the express purpose of destroying awkward furniture. And, oh yes, all decisions made by the couple took place not when they moved in to their dream cottage, but while they were still on their honeymoon.
