Easy to see why Roger Ebert considered this a "Perfect Motion Picture" and is one of his top 10 favorite films. It is also a favorite of critic Pauline Kael and of directors Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino. Julie Christie won an Academy Award Best Actress nomination and the cinematographer Vilmos was nominated for Best Cinematography for his sublime, vintage feel and lighting to the scenes. The movie is considered by movie historians as the true non traditional western and entirely realistic for the setting of turn of the century British Columbia/Washington state in 1900. Love the movie, the director and all the quality performances by the actors.
