Many sounds in the audience of yawning while I was watching this film, but it really is an excellent period piece, which takes place during the 1950s. The cast is quite incredible - Pierce Brosnan, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Cooper, etc. - excellent performances by them all, especially Chris Cooper, who deserves an Oscar nod for this one. This is really a surprising, probably accurate look at married couples during this time. This is a movie for movie-lovers, which has depth and substance, and requires some concentration. One of the best things out there right now.

After seeing this movie, I realize how versatile Chris Cooper can be. He's got this menacing sneer that provokes instant fear, and he doesn't even have to say a word. But "Married Life" shows all sides of his character--the desperate, loving and depressed sides. Pierce Brosnan brings comic relief and the whole cast was convincing. The best thing about this movie is that it's unpredictable. Even in the middle, when you're forming inklings of what might happen, HOW it happens is so twisted, you never see it coming. It has its lulls in some parts, but it grew on me. By the end, I had thoroughly enjoyed it.

very Hitchcokian like film. For those that like that mental suspense with good acting its a go.

Excellent cast with good acting, but the plot is slow and the movies just doesn't seem to work.

Felt like a movie made in the 40's. Enjoyed very much, kept your interest all the way through. No violence,no bad language....We enjoy many movies made today but this was a respite from the genre we view today....Won't win any Oscars but you leave just smiling.....
