Not as good as I thought it would be

The good: The humanistic side of the interaction between Superman and his parents (particularly his father played by Costner) was well done. I thought that Costner and Crowe did a good job. The bad: The special effects were overly CGIed/overdone. The fight scenes were overly long and drawn out. Simply too much of SM and his enemies being thrown into and out of buildings/concrete. You see it a few times, great. But that was about all the fight scenes consisted of. Little to no creativity, in my opinion. No "kick-ass" scenes that I thought to myself, "wow, that was awesome!". The interactions between SM and Lois Lane were devoid of any chemistry. I thought that Amy Adams was a poor choice for Lane. Far too passive and demure. The dialogue throughout the movie was bad in general. The ugly: The pacing was terrible. Too many cut-scenes. The fight scene at the end dragged. I had no emotional connection to any of the characters (lack of dialogue). Huge plot holes, too.

This was a very good movie. The Man of Steel is one hunky guy, totally hot! Worth going just to be able to look at him! The movie could have been a little shorter, although my movies partners thought it seemed a bit long, I did not. Maybe one less fight scene would have helped. Overall, this movie is still a "Must Go" Check it out!

Man of Sellout

What a hot mess of a film. The ludicrous plot, the militarized depiction of Krypton and visual shift from elegiac super beings to armored iron soldiers, the disaster-pornography that obsesses with destroying buildings and cities with zero regard for the toll of a catastrophe on human beings and their societies... is this what's left to say about American dreams, in the 21st century? The filmmaker and script-writer have fashioned a film that fails to draw the audience into a story animated by compelling characters. Instead of investing energies into marketing promos for pancakes houses, shaving blades and tiny plastic toys, if only there were a more clear-eyed commitment to recognizing the romance and adventure of Superman. Instead, we get false brooding and posturing, and lots of spectacle-- stuff flies up, stuff blows up, emotions get rushed. If Richard Donner still cares, he might be chuckling to himself this weekend. Superman 1978, still the triumph in superhero narratives.

Man of Steel is Best Superman!

The storyline was developed much better than the original Superman which I thought would not be possible. The film's pace was very well managed, non-stop action from start to finish but enough character development to give you a real good sense that you knew each characters strengths. Meanwhile, the action itself was outstanding, the use of close-ups of Superman while he was in action was perfect. More importantly the actor who plays Superman was very believable and someone you could rally around. Overall I give this film an 8.5 out of 10 overall but more importantly a MUST SEE in the theatres.

This is my Favorite Superman sine George Reeve

I too have been a fan of Superman for most of my life (lest just say 50+) I grew up on George Reeve on TV and all the titles in DC. I was a little disappointed in the Christopher Reeves movies because they were a little to comical for my taste. This movie, although it rewrites some of the basic anchor points of the Superman history or timeline, is still the best. I sat through the entire movie and was thrilled by all aspects of "Man of Steel". I liked the fact that this movie did not take the time to go through his whole life on Earth. The highlights in the film filled in enough to fill in what was needed and still keep the plot and action rolling. I hope this Producer, Director and Henry Cavill will do a sequel.
