Man of Steel isn't the masterpiece the trailers promised. It suffers from mediocre screenwriting, poor directing, and an obvious heavy editing hand to pare down the run time. This is a 3 hour movie butchered into 2.3 hours.
Henry Cavill is more than a pretty face. His acting is top notch. Amy Adams does a decent job but comes off as Pam from The Office.
While the story isn't perfect, it is bolstered by a great score, great visuals (although some look like they were made in the 70's), and the most amazing fight action ever seen on the big screen! It's Dragonball Z meets Marvel v Capcom and is nothing short of incredible!
I saw this movie twice. It's better the 2nd time around. The plot holes seemed even bigger, but the story was easier to follow. I'd also recommend seeing in IMAX 3D. The experience was notably better than regular 3D.
There are no scenes during or after the credits

Okay so this movie with downright amazing. All the stupid gripes critics had like.. lack of humor, lack of romance were well.. stupid. Sure it wasn't a light hearted, funny movie like let's say Avengers or Spider-Man but it wasn't supposed to be. Superman is a pretty serious character and the movie is an origin story.
The lack of romance is more the fact that it's just the very start of the romance and you can tell it's going to be a much bigger part of the next film. Clark's seriousness can be chalked up to the fact that this whole movie is essentially about finding himself. Not sure where a bunch of humor would have fit in.
The action was mindblowing. The acting was phenomenal all around. The musical score was amazing. It's one of those movies like Batman Begins where you can just tell the sequels will get better and better. This movie was the foundation, not the whole story.
My only slight issue was the action was a bit repetitive. Not much variety in the fighting.

There is action from the beginning that continues throughout the movie. It just gets better and better. This is truly a "Must GO!" as soon as you can! The actors were all brilliant in their roles. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane play a great dad and mom. Their parts were very sincere in dealing with their son. The graphics were on the money! I absolutely loved this movie!!!

this movie had lots of potential, with some snippets of meaningful acting, but completely bulldozed by nearly an hour of repetitive violent scenes...seriously let's show some creativity!

This is exactly what a super hero movie should be. It starts with a solid screenplay and takes off from there. Perfect casting, a powerful sound track and visuals that take advantage of all the latest technology leads to a flick that has elements of a classic. I love how so many themes were embedded in such an entertaining two plus hours. Sacrifice, morals, identity and destiny are all seamlessly woven in this epic tale that is also a warning that our current world could end up like Krypton if we don't select a different path. Some of my favorite scenes are with Superman and his two dads as he listens to pieces of wisdom and then chooses his own destiny when the opportunity is there. The back story on Krypton is Sci Fi at it's best. This is the first film I've seen twice in one week since Empire Strike Back, way back in 1980. A true must see!!
