Too many loose ends

Liked the background, graphics. Movie did have a lot of down time in my opinion. It was suspensful at times, but not overbearing as far as over the top gore. My biggest complaint was they left too many loose ends that needed addressed. All in all it was an ok watch, it won't win any acadamy awards, but it isn't another wasteful horror flick...Worth a look...

Mama...More Like Grandmama

Totally tired premise of ghostlike wraith who can't rest in peace until she's allowed to mother her dead infant. Lots of dark rooms, mild shocks which are almost laughable and lackluster performances by Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain and Nicolaj Coster-Wadau(sic). Skip it unless you watch it maybe, on DVD next Halloween.

Mama Delivers

Horror movies rely on scaring movie goers, yet some leave out the great storyline and acting. Mama delivers what a good horror needs to entertain and keep the audience hooked. Jessica Chastain (Annabel), who plays a woman not wanting children, and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Lucas/Jeffrey) are challenged with raising his abandoned nieces, Victoria and Lily. Mama doesn't shy away from letting you see glimpses and full shots of "Mama" flying at you. As the movie unfolds, the sins of the past are unleashed on the unfortunate souls in the present. Ultimately, building to who and what Mama is willing to kill for...

This horror movie had us jumping in our seats and kept us in suspense throughout. We enjoyed the movie from start to finish. Not one for the youngsters as it will probably give them bad dreams. The cinematography was great. This movie shows that it does not take an "A" list of actors to be cast in a movie to make it a good one.

Guillermo del Toro

I was force to see this by my friend. I chose Identity Theft last week and he chose Mama this week. I was dreading seeing this...until I saw "Guillermo del Toro" as executive producer in the opening credits. Guillermo del Toro name has gravitas with movies such as Pan's Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies, and Blade 2. I was right as this was actually a very enjoyable horror movie. It scared and creeped me out more than any horror movie since I saw Halloween as a child in the 90s. It wouldn't really be scary if you saw it a second time, but the ending is what convinced me this was a good movie. It was typical with what I expect from a movie that is heavily influenced by del Toro's involvement. Anyone who has seen Pan's Labyrinth will understand. I heavily recommend this movie, especially while it is still in theaters.
