This horror movie had us jumping in our seats and kept us in suspense throughout. We enjoyed the movie from start to finish. Not one for the youngsters as it will probably give them bad dreams. The cinematography was great. This movie shows that it does not take an "A" list of actors to be cast in a movie to make it a good one.

I was so excited for this movie ever since I saw the trailer. I am a big fan of Guillermo del Toro's work, specially The Orphanage, but Mama did not at all live up to expectations. The beginning started off exciting but as the movie progressed it was cheesy with laughable scares. Literally people in the theater laughed at every "scary" part of the movie. It has every horror movie cliché you can imagine: ghost int he closet, going to the haunted house at night, ect. The ending was completely ridiculous and absolutely comical. Wouldn't even wait to watch this as a rental. Good idea but extremely poorly executed.

The film overall was everything I like in a scary movie, suspense, emotion, and lack of gore. I tend to favor movies that are heavier into scaring you by building up suspense and having something jump out when you least suspect it. Versus having a ton of unnecessary gore. What I didn't like was the ending. I felt like it wasn't fully thought through.

25 out of 100 Behold the most joyless, unscary, predictable, poorly acted, under developed horror film that should have just been changed into a TV feature film. The movie was just not enjoyable, the ending was just weird. Overall, Mama is the the worst movie contender of this year, so don't waste your time watching this. Just plain flat-out disappointment.

The movie keeps you engaged and it is not to gory or gross. A one time watch, but given an option, I would watch something else.
