Known to the public at large as the wife of comedian Chris Rock, Malaak Compton-Rock seemed like she herself was destined to be famous from a young age. With a flair for dressing up and for stealing the spotlight, Compton-Rock did get involved in the entertainment industry eventually, working as a public relations executive who booked celebrities for UNICEF. In 1999, she decided to put her talents to further good use and founded the nonprofit organization Styleworks, providing makeovers to women who were rejoining the workforce after living on public assistance. In 2008, she joined Oprah Winfrey as a judge for the TV series Oprah's Big Give. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
