A nice export from Japan that felt real
I was first amazed by how realistic this film felt. Usually a lot of historically set Japanese films are over the top in drama, or scenery is extreme.
This movie made me feel like I was watching a middle class Japanese family. No fluff!
The acting was real emotion, and wasn't like watching an actor try to act.
I felt I had a connection with the film and that is what made it such a viewing pleasure for me.
Oh and the plot, gosh... at every scene I kept questioning... how is this going to turn out... how is she going to react... it didn't follow a predictable pattern and kept me interested.
