This is one of the best movies, certainly the best action movies, my wife and I have seen seen this year! It wasn't the typical action movie. Kept you guessing and did a good job of keeping the viewer in the loop. Very good!

Unbelievably bad

This movie was bad from the beginning to the end. It was the first time that I left my seat to make a phone call during a movie. It was so ridiculous, that there was laughter in the theater even though there were no comic scenes

Another Stunner From Rian Johnson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt!

This was a more violent movie than I had expected, but I am not sure why, given the gritty nature of writer/director Rian Johnson and lead actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt's last outing together, "Brick", Johnson's 2005 writing and directorial debut. A film noir stunner, that movie played like the grittiest Bogart movie you'd ever seen, only, this one was set in high school. Oh, and the part of Bogart was played by Gordon-Levitt, as if he was born to play the part. I am pretty sure that the tension I felt and the starkness of some of the violence was more about the art of exclusion rather than inclusion. I think that it is a testimony to the way the writer/director Rian Johnson chose his effects shots and gruesome details so carefully, while allowing the rest of the movie to have such a grounded-in-reality feel. In this movie, the future isn't so altogether different than our own time. As in Brick, you just have no idea where this story could take you, but you just have to find out!

Exceeded my above average hopes.

Very good movie. Plot actually made sense unlike many time travel movies. Acting was above par. It is worth worth going to see in the theater as apposed to waiting to go see on DVD.

The Looper Review

It was ok. Glad I did not spend the dough to see it in the theater. The bit werid was I couldn't figure out what the past dates were through the whole film. Was it 1939??? Or 2044/2074 as the movie states? No disrespect, but if it was supposed to reflect 2044 where were the technology, culture, costumes? Was that altered too? No cell phones, hardly any vechiles? Weird. No disrespect but the director should not ever try to persue any type of career in the Si-Fi releam of things in any real sense of manner, unless he has some type of crew to back him up. And I was waiting to see the results of the demise of one's own ancestors, how can you rid your parent/grandparent or whatever without dimissing oneself? Was there a loop I missed, where they got to loop back? Some type of Quatum link that got around that fact? Then the kid seemed to be like possesed and it almost seemed like some type of horror movie at that point. Really, pick one type of genre and stay with it.
