Looper. An Unexpected Surprise.

Every once in a while a movie comes by that is creative, fun, memorable, and original. Looper is just that. With the acting, directing, story, and effects all in sync, Looper is one hell of a movie. The Pros: Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis, at first I was skeptical at the sight of JGL playing a younger Bruce Willis, but JGL gave me no reason to doubt him before, and he did not disappoint, everything down to the mannerisms of Bruce is thrown into JGL's character, and the two on screen have wonderful chemistry. The Story, Originality, time travel movies are in abundance, but this one is a notable one, truly great storytelling and creative plot lines make Looper one of the best time travel films ever. The Direction, this movie simply does not miss a step, ingenious plot and story elements, and great pace. The only cons for this film is that it MAY have gotten slow at SOME points, but Looper truly is a modern day masterpiece of a film and should be considered a sci fi classic. 4/5

Loved it on DVD...

... and wished I had seen it on the 'big screen'.
Oh, well... I guess I'll simply come back from the future in 30+ years and do it then! ;-)

Looper is a great movie. It is very original. The way it is shot is great. It is a really great sci fi movie.

I'll Never Get that Hour & A Half Back... Even If I Loop Back In Time

Truly one of the biggest messes of a movie that I've ever been exposed to. I feel so sorry for Bruce Willis... How he got tied up in this disaster just makes no sense... I can sum up the movie in a few words...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt grabs a weapon... puts liquid drugs in his eyes to get high (very similar to being in a K Hole) and stands before a white tarp... a person appears out of nowhere and he shoots a big hole in them... He collects silver and gold bars and plans to go to France but ends up in Asia... Just replay that scenario about 30 times.. there is your movie.

Great movie, cool graphics. If you are a WIllis fan, you will love this one. Very cool story. Not for kids though, as it becomes intense and has some shooter violence. On DVD now, we will buy it. Very good movie.

The Looper Review

It was ok. Glad I did not spend the dough to see it in the theater. The bit werid was I couldn't figure out what the past dates were through the whole film. Was it 1939??? Or 2044/2074 as the movie states? No disrespect, but if it was supposed to reflect 2044 where were the technology, culture, costumes? Was that altered too? No cell phones, hardly any vechiles? Weird. No disrespect but the director should not ever try to persue any type of career in the Si-Fi releam of things in any real sense of manner, unless he has some type of crew to back him up.

And I was waiting to see the results of the demise of one's own ancestors, how can you rid your parent/grandparent or whatever without dimissing oneself? Was there a loop I missed, where they got to loop back? Some type of Quatum link that got around that fact?

Then the kid seemed to be like possesed and it almost seemed like some type of horror movie at that point. Really, pick one type of genre and stay with it.

The movie had all the potential in the world and fell short. The ending left you wanting to get out of the theatre and to go get some food. The acting was decent but the story itself fell quite short of a "Go" rating let alone a "Must Go" rating. Bruce Willis films are often just like that. You go in with good intentions and leave going "that guy's best days were in Moonlighting as a comedian". I would totally wait for Netflicks or Redbox on this one. Also, this is NOT a movie for children.

An unexpected movie with a twist ending

It's Okay

Context: The Lord of the Rings and the Matrix Trilogy are some of my favorite movies.

This movie is okay. The acting is good. The story plot is a bit underdeveloped. It strikes me as a fairly low budget (by Hollywood standards) film, that is not heavy on the special affects, but the acting and the premise in general carries the film. It could have been much better with a little more development of the plot; in particular what was happening in the future.

I'd probably recommend waiting for the movie to come out on HBO or Showtime, rather than spending the money to watch it. It's borderline in that respect.

Ugggh!

This film was so awful, it made me wish someone would put a bag on MY head, send ME to the past and kill me too. Horrible and mind numbing dreck.

Awesome

I was looking forward to this movie for a majority of the year. I have to say, this didn't disappoint. I absolutely loved this movie.

Characters Get Older and So Do Their Lines

The smugness of Bruce Willis is old, and tired. There is nothing new here, he is the same old Willis we've seen time and again. The story is, however intriguing, but the performance of the younger actors leaves much to be desired. I would have enjoyed this better on DVD while doing laundry.

Good film but the character development follows a narrow script found throughout Willis' career.
