Another Action Flick with a Weak Plot and Great Actors

Lockout was another disappointing action flick with very little story. Major letdown, especially when early reviews call it a great mix between Die Hard and Bladerunner. I liked both of those movies with Bladerunner as one of my favorites.

Aside from the great action sequences, i.e. space battles, shoot-em ups and hand-to-hand, this movie sucked. The Actors deserve better scripts and we deserve better movies...especially for the money we pay. Yikes on the wallet!

Not worth the $23.00 I spent on the movie alone, not counting the snacks.

    Fun

    by Collie1

Campy and simple bad guys are crazier than a dog chasing its tail and the good guy is fun sassy and smart. I enjoyed it and good laughs at times.

    Last minute Movie Choice

    by

We wanted to see a movie, but were not sure what to see. We looked up what was playing and saw Lockout. Not knowing what it was, we looked up the trailer. It promised action, humor, and a good story line. The movie definitely lived up to that. Great story, made very believable. Some spots were predictable, some lines were corny, but that just added to the charm. My husband, son, and I were laughing, along with the rest of the crowd, because it was humorous without taking away from the action. Sarcastic humor at its best!

    This movie was AWESOME!!!

My mother and I went to go watch this movie yesterday and we both loved it. I was laughing throughout the whole movie and it also kept me at the edge of my seat. I do have to say this is one of the best movies I've seen in quite some time, but I do really recommend this movie to anyone who likes action with a little bit of comedy thrown in there. It just comes to show that the so-called 'critics' really don't know how to rate a good movie.

Action packed. Too many snarky jokes

    by jm527

    Positive:
Movie kept me interested, few scenes caught me off guard including the end, which I suspected all along but didn't see the reaction coming. Action packed and there were just enough bad guys to make me enjoy watching bad things happen to them.

    Negative:
I was able to enjoy this movie being a guy but I was disappointed too. Some of the action scenes were dark and what I could see of the action CGI was weak at best. The main Villan (dumb Brother, not the smart one) was some Irish guy who I couldn't understand a word half the time and never understood what he was doing. Add to that, Guy Pierce just slammed out those lame snarky jokes like it was going out of style. Story line was lacking in areas. Maybe I missed it but I wanted some detail not just *BOOM* action, bad joke, semi-funny joke, look like a bad ass, fight, *EXPLOSION*, repeat.

    Overall:
I'd probably see it again, if only to watch with subtitles on and brightness up so I can see and understand what was going on.

    Entertaining B movie

    by jhs39

This is an amusing time waster from the writer/producer of Taken and the Transporter series, as well as the pretty terrible From Paris With Love.. The story rips off both Escape From New York and Die Hard in generally entertaining ways. I was hoping this would be better but it's a fun way to waste 90 minutes, if little more.

This was just one of those wonderful action films with great dialogue

and it was funny, it made me smile and the action was great and you laughed at the jokes. I did read a note by a critic who said 'your Republican friends will love it' due to the political jokes - my reaction was 'REALLY dude? Can't take what you dish out?' Stupid. The movie is good, the humor is good and it's just a great time out.

The makers of ID4 never really seemed to understand why that movie was good and their subsequent 'made by the makers of Independence Day' movies weren't. The makers of this movie got it.

    I'm buying a copy.

    Lockout

As far as I was concerned it was another case of a big build up for a SyFi movie that is not good. The main actor was too causual for someone being shot at. The story had too many holes. Would not watch it again.

    Really bad!

    by lalaroo

The writing was terrible! Also the physics - it seemed like the writers just thought "outer space" was a foreign country or something, rather than a completely different environment with different rules. The villains were pretty good though.

Don't Let The Critics Do The Thinking For You!

    by

If you like movies because critics like them (in other words you don't like thinking for yourself and you rely on other people's opinion to make up your own) then you'll probably not like the movie. On the other hand, if you like action movies with good chemistry between characters, then you'll probably like Lockout. There's really nothing that new here, but it's done so well that you enjoy the story. Guy Pearce really shines and Luc Besson's directing style suits the movie. I also loved it because it had NO well known A-list-ers. The Snow character that Pearce plays is really cool. But if you're an old fuddy duddy (like the film critics) then you can poke holes even in an Abrams tank. Go, have fun and enjoy - and use your own judgement to see if you like it or not. I LOVED IT!

Clown_Asylum Crappy security on this prison thing. Seems almost purposely designed to encourage escapes, like it was for a disaster film! #lockout
