In the first episode of a two-part story, Charles (Michael Landon) and Albert (Matthew Laborteaux) accompany the Cooper family while making a delivery. En route, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper are killed in an accident, leaving their children, James (Jason Bateman) and Cassandra (Missy Francis), orphans.
