Intelligent, thought-provoking assessment of the military involvement in Iraq and our uninvolved stance here in the States as shown marvelously through three interlocking story lines; one concerning a covert operation in Afghanistan, another about a college professor attempting to save a promising student and the third about a Republican senator giving a exclusive interview to a Washington journalist. Robert Redford able directs as well as plays the professor here in this stalwart production of ideas and countering idealogical debates, Meryl Streep is fabulous as usual as the reporter hungry for not only a story but answers from Tom Cruise's cocky but on target politician. Definitely can be quite a gab-fest at times but rewarding as you see all three stories connect as one. Very important message film!
Though slow for some people, I enjoyed this movie due to the relevance of the war in Iraq. If you like more story than action and adventure, you'll probably like this one.
Very thought provoking. An ok story line but I enjoyed the acting of Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.
Good political/war movie. Great acting by Redford, Streep, and Cruise.
