    Lincoln

I had purchased our tickets the night before on line because I knew it was going to be a great movie and wanted to make sure we had tickets. On the way to the theater, I realized I had not checked my movie review source to see if the move was "safe." I didn't think it was necessary. Glad I did!! The review source (very reliable and family-friendly) listed the number of times God d--- was used and other profane language. WHY in the world do movie makers have to RUIN a potentially great film by injecting crude language that makes your ears bleed?? We immediately turned the car around, took our $25 loss and headed home. Not only will I not see this movie, but my children won't either. It's just not worth having to sit through vile language to see a movie. What a shame and so not needed!! I hate they got my $$$$ before I realized the content. At least my ears were spared.

Does not look like a shred of truth. Republican propoganda

Everything we hear about Lincoln is republican propoganda of its founder. Lincoln did not free the slaves, he established Liberia and wanted to send them there. He is from Kentucky and nor Illinois. Individual states were the highest right, which Lincoln trampled on to make sure DC has the highest power sacrificing 600,000 husbands and sons from the North and the South to impose his will. He was not beloved, That many homes were left fatherless and sonless, I'm sure Lincoln didnt even lose sleep. Did Lincoln try any rescue attempt to help pows from the Horth in a horrendous prison camp, doesnt seem like it, he was enjoying himself going to theatre. How was the play Mrs Lincoln, she was also a slave owner. He also does use the term NOW, NOW, NOW, that kind of talk is from current hip hop. Very dissapointed Speilberg, stick to ET.

    BORING!!!!

We were really looking forward to this movie given all the hype. We love history and who doesn't love Spielberg movies? So disappointing! I'm certain it was historically accurate, I'm sure the actors were historically accurate in their portayal of their characters...just really, really boring watching a bunch of people discuss and argue over politics. No action, no suspense...not a whole lot of drama. I kept looking at my watch, dozing off....not the way I want to spend 2 hours and 40 mins. Two thumbs down. Sorry! I wanted to really love this movie but both my husband and I thought it was flat and an incredibly boring way to spend our evening. I kept waiting for the movie to redeem itself and it never did.

LINCOLN DISTORTION , PERVERTED AND TWIST

    by DONETZ

LINCOLN WANTED TO RESOLVE THE SLAVERY PROBLEM TO SEND THE
    BLACKS TO LIBERA ....

THE CIVIL WAR WAS A CONFLICT OF STATES' RIGHTS , RAILROADS AND THE
    BANKS ......

IT WAS THE OPINION OF PEOPLE IN HIGH PLACES IN THE CONFEDERACY TO
ABOLISH SLAVERY TO GAIN FAVOR AND TRADE WITH ENGLAND .

    Could Have Been Better

This movie had a great cast stuck with an aimless and tedious script. The characters did not really speak to each other in dialogue, but instead orated at each other in paragraphs. Also, several of the speeches had 21st century anachronisms (two soldiers, meeting with Lincoln, talk about equal pay and promotion potential). The movie was structured around Lincoln's efforts to get the Thirteenth Amendment (locking the abolition of slavery into the Constitution) passed in early 1865. This was a promising plot line, but all to often, "Lincoln" gets lost in the weeds. For example, long stretches of the movie get involved in these pointless roll call scenes on the floor of Congress. The casting was good--Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln and Tommy Lee Jones was a great Thaddeus Stevens. But they obviously struggled against the limitations of this ponderous, lumbering script. Sad to say, I actually longed for the film to end ("Ah, April 9, Ford's Theatre is only three days away. . . .")
