I really enjoyed the scenes where everyone would watch Lincoln with admiration and awe…probably because that is what I was doing also.
In my opinion, Daniel Day Lewis did a terrific job portaying Lincoln.

I really wanted to like it: a movie about a hero of mine, with a great director and good actors; but it was slow and ponderous, and the photography was clever rather than effective. The scenes of the awfulness of war were good, but Lincoln was not quite believable as portrayed. The best actor was Tommie Lee Jones as the secretary of State, followed by Sally Fields.

I thought that this was a very well done movie. I thought that Lincoln was portrayed in a new and most human way. Lewis did a wonderful job and cemented is reputation as one of our finest actors. The supporting cast gave wonderful performances as well. I really like the way that they dealt with the political wrangling that was common in the 19th century politics. Sally Fields showed that she has matured as an actress, considering some of her other roles that she has done over the years. Tommy Lee Jones, as always, brought his A game to the film. The movie was photographed beautifully giving a true sense of the time. My only regret, though I understand it due to the limitations of keeping the movie to 2 1/2 hours, is that more was not made of Lincoln's relation with Sec. of War. Edward Stanton. What impressed me most about the cast is how close most of them looked like the people they portrayed. I really felt that I went back in time.

Just like Schindler's List....................You know the story - or so you think. Then you're so INTO the story you just go with it. DD Lewis and Sally Field at the top of their game!

This movie will be one of the great movies for years to come. Watch it or lose out. You will be sorry if you don't see it.
