Daniel Day-Lewis once again wins the Oscar. This is a role designed for Award-bait but that doesn't make it any less of a accomplishment because Lincoln is such an iconic character and the performance was so subtle and expert. Sally Field was the weakest link in a all-around great ensemble cast with many faces you'll recognize who disappear into their characters. This movie is a courtroom-like political drama. The script must have been 12 inches thick, the dialogue is just densely packed with wit, powerful monologues and era specific language. This is an All-American classic in the very best of ways and it will almost certainly be a staple for U.S. History classes for decades to come.

This movie really speaks to our time and politics. It is so ironic how history repeats itself. The issues then were the Union itself and the end of slavery, two conflicting ideals and how Lincoln navigated both politically. Very fascinating. The acting was superb. Lewis will get his 3rd Oscar.

This movie will be one of the great movies for years to come. Watch it or lose out. You will be sorry if you don't see it.

Outstanding portrayal and performance by Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones. A stellar supporting cast! Don't miss this one! Probably Mr. Spielberg's best film in a decade.

I had purchased our tickets the night before on line because I knew it was going to be a great movie and wanted to make sure we had tickets. On the way to the theater, I realized I had not checked my movie review source to see if the move was "safe." I didn't think it was necessary. Glad I did!! The review source (very reliable and family-friendly) listed the number of times God d--- was used and other profane language. WHY in the world do movie makers have to RUIN a potentially great film by injecting crude language that makes your ears bleed?? We immediately turned the car around, took our $25 loss and headed home. Not only will I not see this movie, but my children won't either. It's just not worth having to sit through vile language to see a movie. What a shame and so not needed!! I hate they got my $$$$ before I realized the content. At least my ears were spared.
