Very good historical writings. Daniel Day Lewis as Abe Lincoln is superb. As always Steven Spielberg was able to capture the true essence of the most important event of American history.

Every man, woman and child in America should see LINCOLN. There cannot be one person among us who could not learn at least one thing about the extraordinary history of our country, character, faith, and love of humanity and family from our 16th president. Stephen Spielberg's storytelling inspires us as a nation to heal our wounds and move forward with hope and promise that America will indeed remain the land of the free and the home of the brave. I will be a better person and American by coming to know Abraham Lincoln, the man, through the glorious adaptation of Doris Kearns Goodwin's exquisite portrait -- and Daniel Day Lewis's perfectly crafted performance -- of an extraordinary leader who changed the 'course of human events' in these United States. Lincoln at once envelopes us with his warmth and compassion on the screen, and above all else, imbues us with his sense of honor and duty to preserve our individual and collective rights scripted by our forefathers. God bless America.

I had purchased our tickets the night before on line because I knew it was going to be a great movie and wanted to make sure we had tickets. On the way to the theater, I realized I had not checked my movie review source to see if the move was "safe." I didn't think it was necessary. Glad I did!! The review source (very reliable and family-friendly) listed the number of times God d--- was used and other profane language. WHY in the world do movie makers have to RUIN a potentially great film by injecting crude language that makes your ears bleed?? We immediately turned the car around, took our $25 loss and headed home. Not only will I not see this movie, but my children won't either. It's just not worth having to sit through vile language to see a movie. What a shame and so not needed!! I hate they got my $$$$ before I realized the content. At least my ears were spared.

Lincoln was excellent. Daniel Day-Lewis did a fantastic job -- he truly became Lincoln in this movie. Wonderful supporting cast.
I would highly recommend this movie.

I thought that this was a very well done movie. I thought that Lincoln was portrayed in a new and most human way. Lewis did a wonderful job and cemented is reputation as one of our finest actors. The supporting cast gave wonderful performances as well. I really like the way that they dealt with the political wrangling that was common in the 19th century politics. Sally Fields showed that she has matured as an actress, considering some of her other roles that she has done over the years. Tommy Lee Jones, as always, brought his A game to the film. The movie was photographed beautifully giving a true sense of the time. My only regret, though I understand it due to the limitations of keeping the movie to 2 1/2 hours, is that more was not made of Lincoln's relation with Sec. of War. Edward Stanton. What impressed me most about the cast is how close most of them looked like the people they portrayed. I really felt that I went back in time.
