WORTH SEEING: Daniel Day-Lewis is magnificent in Spielberg's Lincoln, which is very well made. Best decisions: it begins with the Gettysburg Address, and ends with the Second Inaugural, which is probably the greatest American political speech of all time.

LINCOLN WANTED TO RESOLVE THE SLAVERY PROBLEM TO SEND THE BLACKS TO LIBERA .... THE CIVIL WAR WAS A CONFLICT OF STATES' RIGHTS , RAILROADS AND THE BANKS ...... IT WAS THE OPINION OF PEOPLE IN HIGH PLACES IN THE CONFEDERACY TO ABOLISH SLAVERY TO GAIN FAVOR AND TRADE WITH ENGLAND .

Serious, absorbing, engrossing! Did not want it to end. Almost seemed to be "real". Everybody should see this to know how difficult it is to get America to a decision on a major political decision. Tnank you Mr. Spielberg!

Lots to think about

Good to be remiinded that politics has always been messy and complicated, the House of Representatives tends to draw passionate but not necessarily bright people who always have an agenda -- usually centered on their self-interest, and the Republicans were founded as the party of abolition and resistance to entrenched, conservative southern Democrats. Daniel Day-Lewis is a folksy president iwth the common touch, whose wheels are always turning behind his rube-like exterior and who is always a couple of steps ahead of eveyrone else. Sally Field is simply one of the very best actresses we have -- Recognition please! Great cast. Young people and those looking for a lot of action may not find this to their tasete. Well done.
