A Delicious piece of cinematic Pi

This was a beautiful film, well acted and one of my favorite movies of the year. The story centers around Pi, a young man who is lost at sea after the ship he and his family are sinks on the way to Canada. The young man is pushed to his limits trying to survive the ordeal. Suraj Sharma is charming as Pi and Ang Lee does an amazing job as director. This one will defintely be a blu ray buy for me once its released. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Life of Pi

I enjoyed this movie with my husband, and 2 sons ages 13 and 9. The 13 year old was very engaged in the movie as soon as it started. My 9 year old had a harder time with some of the scenes on the boat. The fight for life was a little more than he was prepared for but he enjoyed the movie as a whole as well. I have not read the book but I am going to be looking for it very soon. I loved his spiritual journey through the book and the ending was awesome!

Not Just Pi in the Sky

My wife and I both enjoyed this film. This is the kind of film that you discuss afterwards -- not whether it was thumbs up or thumbs down -- to see what the other person came away with. I think this movie dissected the human psyche and did, indeed, expose humanity's innate desire for relationship with God. Some small children were sitting behind us during the movie. They kept asking, "What's going on?" so I am not sure children can appreciate the meaning, but they can enjoy Pi and Richard Parker and the jellyfish. It's a thought-provoking story -- or stories -- and is well worth the experience.

A Life of Magic

Life of Pi is a visual feast. It should be an Oscar contender for cinematography. The story within a story is a bit of a disappointment as it takes away much suspense. However, there are wonderful moments that can be savored. One poignant scene made me cry; it was so incredibly touching without being maudlin. An overall gorgeous movie. I'll see it again.
