Life of Pi very well done!

I read the book before seeing this movie and so worried that it would not be true to the book, but it was! Visually stunning and wonderful acting. Go see it, you will love the story(s)!

    A little Dissapointing

This movie has a good moral, with an interesting life of the boy, Pi, but there is a lot of voilence with the animals when their stranded in the boat, for a young child to see. Overall this movie is OK, but including the violence seen, I'll say it's a no.

    Deeper than the surface

    by gsher

This movie, like the book, can be appreciated at various levels. The photography is breathtaking, to be sure. The story seems magical - and indeed it is. But the real message is hidden beneath many complex layers. It is actually very profound and disturbing. That's why the fantastical imagery - and the story at the surface - is only the surface. When you peer beneath the surface of the water, as Pi sometimes does, there are truths that are deeper, mysterious and so gloomy that human nature rejects them and prefers the fantasy to fact. Because the surface is so beautiful and hard to penetrate, many folks will only see the surface and the movie is bound to be underappreciated.

Not Just Pi in the Sky

My wife and I both enjoyed this film. This is the kind of film that you discuss afterwards -- not whether it was thumbs up or thumbs down -- to see what the other person came away with. I think this movie dissected the human psyche and did, indeed, expose humanity's innate desire for relationship with God. Some small children were sitting behind us during the movie. They kept asking, "What's going on?" so I am not sure children can appreciate the meaning, but they can enjoy Pi and Richard Parker and the jellyfish. It's a thought-provoking story -- or stories -- and is well worth the experience.

    LIfe of PI

The movie was excellent. Especially the ending. I just wish I would have been able to watch the 3D version as there were a few scenes which would have been spectacular in 3D.

    Life of Pi

Life of Pi was a very interesting and thought provoking movie. It kept me going throughout the whole story. I enjoyed how the relationship of Pi and the Tiger finally became peaceful. This is a must see movie.

    Pretty Good

I did not know what to expect walking in. Overall, it started out slowly, but it picked up speed a little bit into the movie. It was definitely worth it though. I would not advise bringing a small child however, because -SPOILER- a zebra gets eaten by a hyena.
