This film asks basic questions: What is perception? What is memory? The story told cinematically and the story told to the shipping company end up at the same point but are vastly different. The cinematography at several points clearly conveys the perception of the character experiencing it. Film was exactly the right medium for this story.

The book is one of my favorites and I was pleased with its translation to the screen. My daughter hadn't read the book and also liked the movie. There's a fair amount of religious discussion, but I never found it preachy or even out of proportion to the basic themes of spirituality and faith. It's a "heavy" movie, so avoid if you're looking for something mindless, but it also has plenty of action and effects to keep the pace exciting.

Impossible to imagine how this film was made. On the surface it seems simple enough, that is until you actually begin to think about it. This was an accomplished feat like none other in film making AND it shows as the viewer becomes engaged in its beauty, spirited adventure and breathtaking fantasy! If you miss this one on the big screen you’ve definitely missed one of the top 50 films ever made. Simply put: it's perfect. What more than a movie-goer expect for their ticket price than an incredible and unforgettable experience like none other? See it. You won't be disappointed.

This is by far the best movie of the year! It's a must see for all ages. I went with my 21 year old daughter and husband and the three of us were blown away by it. The ads don't do it justice. The message is up lifting...not to mention the photography. It kept your attention the whole 2 hrs of the movie. We walked away feeling uplifted and happy. I'd like to see how they made this movie because it was exceptionally done....BRAVO!!!!!!

It is nothing short of amazing that a movie was made from the book and done so perfectly. If anyone misses this movie, they don't like movies.
